Entry Requirements to the College

The entry requirement into the Basic Nursing Programme as stipulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) is a minimum of five (5) O'Level credit passes in WAEC/SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB in the following subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Chemistry
  4. Physics
  5. Biology

All applicants for Community Midwifery must be from the Local government outside Kano metropolis (but applicants from Kumbotso and Unogoggo are also eligible to apply)

Interested applicants can apply for community or basic midwifery at any of the campuses above.

The entry requirement for Post Basic Nursing Programme, Professional Certificate/Notification of Registration as a Midwife from the NMCN in addition to the five (5) O'Level credit passes in WAEC /SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB in the above subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

The entry requirement for Community Nursing Programme must possess the senior Secondary School Certificate or NABTEBB Certificate with at least four (4) credits which must include: Biology and English language and any other two subjects at not more than two (2) sittings. Applicants are allowed to combine WAEC, GCE, OR NECO results.

                  The minimum age for entry into the school is seventeen (17) years.

ADMINISTRATION OF THE SCHOOL

Administratively the principal is the overall head of the institution and the accounting officer. He/she is assisted by, and programs as approved by the Ministry or Council. As the accounting officer, he/she coordinates all activities of the institution which relate to the administration and training of students, staff matters and general maintenance of the school. The vice principal admin assists the principal in routine administration of the school, while the vice principal academic assistant in all academic issues.

DEPARTMENTS

The school has 4 departments, and each is headed by a senior tutor. There are also scheduled offices headed by scheduled officers.

The departments are arranged as follows:

  1. Medical-Surgical Nursing.
  2. Arts and liberal studies.
  3. Public Health Nursing.
  4. Biological and Physical Science.

The major function of the heads of departments is to ensure proper implementation of academic activities in the school. addition to some councillors. Students meet them either individually or collectively for guidance and counselling over personal and academic issues.
