Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria

The council is vested with the authority to:

  1. Approve training institutions and hospitals and conduct periodical inspections of these institutions, regulate the standard of intake by indexing only students who have met the required minimum of 5 credits.
  2. Determine what standard of knowledge and skills are to be attained by the person seeking to become a member of the profession and review those standards from time to time as circumstances may require
  3. Improve methods employed in basic and post-basic education of Nurses and Midwives
  4. Conduct National Qualifying Examination for Nurses and Midwives and appoints examiners
  5. Prosecute any known case of unauthorized Nursing training

Managements of the school

MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Ministry of Health interprets and executes Government and Nursing Council programs and policies as related to nursing manpower development in the state. In conjunction with other organs of the government, it recruits, promotes and provides staff emolument, in addition to providing training facilities for the school. The ministry also appoints the administrative head of the institution and his deputies.

However, students' admission, demotion, withdrawal and other allowances are approved by the ministry sequel to the recommendation of the principal.

The overall cost of running the institution is shouldered by the Ministry of Health kano.
